Great Britain

            Takes Control

By the early 1800s, Great Britain had moved into India. Britain had

set up a company called the East India Company. Leaders who were
chosen by the British government ruled the company.

The East India Company controlled about half of India. Indian

                                                          changes in India. Some changes

                                                           British built hospitals and

                                                           schools throughout the

                                                            country. They also paved
                                                            roads and built railway
