         5   Read page 64 again. Then read the summary and choose the
           correct words or phrases.
         On the day of his execution Mr Sydney Carton thinks about 1) Paris / London.
         He hopes that one day the 2) violence / happiness will stop. He thinks about
         Lucie, Charles, their children and 3) friends / grandchildren. He hopes that
         they will 4) remember / forget him with kindness.
         Perhaps Lucie will 5) smile / cry for him every year 6) in summer / on this

         thoughts help him feel peaceful and calm.

         6   Mr Carton lived a lazy and careless life and he was deeply
           unhappy. At the end of the story, Mr Carton feels calm and
           peaceful even though he will be executed. Explain why you
           think this is. Write between 100 and 120 words in your
           notebook.
