‘She put her head on my shoulder, that night when they came for
         me,’ he said. ‘And when I was brought to the North Tower, I found
         them on my coat.’ He looked up at his daughter, confused. ‘How is
         this possible? Was it you?’ Then he shook his head sadly. ‘No, no, no,
         you are too young. But tell me, what is your name?’

           ‘Oh, sir, another time I shall tell you my name, and who my
         mother was, and who my father is,’ cried Lucie. ‘But I cannot tell
         you here, and now. Your pain is over, my dear, and I have come to
         take you back to England.’

           The old man had gently rested his head on her arm, and now he

         fell into a deep sleep, and slipped to the floor, where his daughter
         knelt beside him, covering his face with her tears and her golden
         hair.
