India
India’s history is closely tied to its location.
Because it is between the East and the West,
it has been invaded and overtaken multiple
times. Each culture that came made a lasting
contribution in some way. By the early 1800s,
Great Britain controlled India. Schools and
hospitals were built, and roads were paved.
But the Indians believed that the British were
treating them unfairly. They fought back, and
in 1947, India won its independence.
